Sometimes all you want from your weekend is an easy life, long walks & slow brunches. Well we hopped in the car and did just that at one of my favourite spots for a dog walk, Rickmansworth Aquadrome and the dog friendly Cafe is certainly a jewel to an already glittering crown.
We’ve been a fair few times and more so recently seeing off the last of the summer – but I can vouch that it’s a beautiful spot for a winter walk too!
For Breakfast the menu is deliciously varied from the classic full English to, Shak shuka and the ever so hipster avo toast – don’t forget your smoothies, juices and artisan coffees! Patrick has become quite the coffee convert in the past 3 years going from not drinking it at all, to knowing the machines which produce the best coffee and on a constant hunt for the perfect flat white.
He reliably informed me their coffee machine was top of the range and gave the thumbs up for their flat white. I’m a sucker for a pretty pattern & rich spices so often plump for the chai latte, a fail safe here!
But they ain’t no one trick pony, for lunch their pretty darn good too – burgers galore, perfectly crisp cased and fluffy interior chips.
I decided on the Veggie burger, a falafel patty topped with roasted peppers bringing out their sweetness, pickles & haloumi – You’ve probably heard my joke about haloumi before, warning, it’s a bit cheesy!
The rest of them had the Olde Spot and they gave it a huge thumbs up! – Cheese, molten cheese!!! Gahhh, I’m salivating.
They now serve wines, beers & a huge selection of soft drinks and fresh made juices to order.
If you’re feeling a little less hungry and potentially a little less virtuous the cake counter is the place for you stacked high with freshly baked goods and always a free from option to cover most allergies – yep, they’ve thought through every detail. The perfect cafe to start or finish a country walk at!
Yep, I think they’ve done a pretty good job!
