It seems I am spewing out quite a few autumnal recipes – well that wasn’t a pleasant picture at all was it?!
Well this recipe is intended to avoid colds & illnesses in the winter. A good source of Vitamins A, B6, Iron & Potassium; as well as being rich in Fiber & Vitamin C – woohooo immune system!
So fling in some honey, cinnamon, cloves & ginger to boost of all the aforementioned goodness & more!
This is quick & super easy recipe to whack together & store in the fridge, take a shot daily or when you feel you may be on the brink of a cold.
What you’ll need:
3 cups elderberries – cleaned & removed from their stalks
2 tbsp runny honey
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1 pinch ground cloves
1 cup water
Place the clean elderberries & water in a sauce pan and simmer.
Add the honey & the spices.
Allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing all the flavours to infuse.
Strain through a tight sieve.
Pour into a sterile bottle – run it through a hot rinse on the washing machine or clean thoroughly and dry in the oven at 140C (120C for fan oven) for about 5-10 minutes.
& your done, ready to ward off any pesky colds!
