Valentine’s is often associated with lovey dovey nonsense, ridiculously commercialised & down right materialistic. I know, who invited this mean faced so n’ so to the party? But it’s true isn’t it?
& I’m not going to lie to you, I send Patrick a card (& one to my granddad, because it’s all about showing love, nowhere does it say it has to be romantic). This Valentine’s I’m gunna spread the love a little further.
The 7th -14th February marks Heart week raising awareness and vital funds for tiny tickers.
Which of course is adorable in itself being a heart based charity and promoting around Valentine’s day, but what you might not know is that in Sweden we call it “Al hjartas dag” literally meaning all hearts day. So helping save some hearts seems even more appropriate.
But what’s even cuter are the children that tiny tickers is able to help. The charity was set up by concerned parents working in medical fields in 1999. The aims of tiny tickets is to improve the early detection, diagnosis and care of babies with congenital heart disease (CHD) through a combination of improving standards, providing specialised training and education of the general public. So far they have trained about 2/3rds of the maternity hospitals in England and Wales.
So how can you help? There are many ways! I love the classic of a bake sale, baking good, charity good, eating good. So yeah, that’s a winner. Otherwise if your adventurous do an amazing challenge raising money as you go. Have a fun night in, donating the difference of a night out! The possibilities are endless, get your creative cap on and raise money to save a babys life.
You can also donate any amount up to £10 using your mobile phone. Simply text “TINY11 £amount” to 70070 and Tiny Tickers will receive 100% of your donation plus Gift Aid.
