Now, I’ll be first to through my hands up to say, I did go here in January, and yes I haven’t written anything until now.
In all honesty I wasn’t sure of the pictures (they’re pretty shoddy quality). But you know what? The food is ruddy delicious and I keep thinking about it…
So let me share Gaucho with you.
Now I know what you’re expecting, an Argentinian restaurant reknowned for their beef. She’s going to drone on about how good the beef was with very little else.
How wrong you’d be.
Yes, the beef was delicious, melt in the mouth, no matter what cut you get. Plus, they bring the cuts to the table and will talk you through each, which I think is pretty darn nifty.
We ordered both chunky & skinny fries, both perfectly cooked.
But the side that stole the show was the humita saltena, steamed into the most glorious consistency, melty, stringy cheese with warming creamed corn, wrapped up in a corn husk. It is the thing of comfort food dreams!
The wine list is equally well thought through, with very little to be desired.
Great service, without being too poncy and a really fun, cow hyde clad setting, a little cowboy, a little classy. Imagine just the right dose of Dolly Parton’s dressing room, delivering silver service food.
And if this doesn’t tempt you, here’s one for the meat lovers – Electro brunch an absolute beast of a buffet, full of all different meats, eggs, pancakes and some pretty fancy cocktails to boot, yes it’s a little pricey, but you probably won’t need to eat for the rest of the day.
